We are so so excited to introduce our new Ready to Go Wedding Collection. I say “new” loosely as this was a service we used to offer when Kate first took over the flower shop 15 years ago (!!) However sadly in these past few years where we seem to have gotten busier and busier with other avenues/events it had fallen to the wayside, but no more we say!

Weddings are so personal and differ hugely from couple to couple. We love creating our bespoke wedding florals by chatting to the couple, finding out their likes and dislikes, any flowers that hold special meaning to them and just the general feel and vibe of their day.

We also understand, however, that this isn’t for everyone! Your idea of the perfect wedding planning process could be seeing a range of flowers, simply selecting which ones you like and then having them delivered to you hassle free. This is why we have brought back our Ready to Go range – through popular demand. • The time of year you’re getting married
• The mood you’re hoping to create

Most couples tend to choose flowers that match their colour schemes and bridesmaid dresses, or flowers that complement this main colour scheme. Have a look on sites such as Pinterest for inspiration on colours that go well with your chosen scheme and speak to your florist about your ideas or theirs.

If you haven’t chosen a colour scheme, again, look online for inspiration, think about your favourite colours and speak to your florist about the different flowers available at that time of year.

Seasonal flowers

Depending on which season you’re getting married in, certain flowers will be more readily available than others. This is due to the seasonal nature of flowers and when they are most likely to be in full bloom.

Do some research into which flowers are in season for your wedding and get some advice from your florist about this too. Not only will this make it easier for you to find all of the flowers you need, it will also be much cheaper for you.

As we mentioned before, flowers should complement and enhance your wedding dress, not overpower it. So look for flowers that will match in with the style and colour of your dress, not ones that clash or make the whole outfit look over the top.

If your dress is a very big statement piece in itself, then subtle flowers may complement it more, whereas if you’ve gone for a simple, classic style dress, then a bigger, brighter bouquet may really finish off the look.

Ensure you bring pictures of your dress with you when you come along to discuss your options with your florist, this will make sure that your wedding bouquet fits in perfectly with your dress style.

Wedding venue

Thinking about your wedding venue is another great way to help decide on the types of flowers that are right for your bouquet. Consider thing such as:

• Any colour schemes in the rooms that you’ll have your wedding ceremony and reception – you don’t want to choose flowers that will clash with this
• Does the venue have lots of lovely grounds with beautiful flowers and plants? Maybe choose some flowers that match in with what’s already there

Wedding theme

Do you have a theme for your wedding? Certain types of flowers work best with different themes. For example, if you’re going for a shabby-chic theme, then the types of flowers which will complement this are different to those which would look best for a modern, contemporary wedding theme.

Again, speak to your florist who will be able to advise you on the best style of flowers for your wedding bouquet.

Bouquets that are a bit on the ‘wild’ side are bang on trend at the moment. These tend to have a few pretty stems of flowers scattered between lots of foliage and grass and have more of a rustic feel.

Here are our top 10 flowers to consider for your spring wedding:

1. Roses

Roses epitomise love and romance and are a popular choice for both wedding bouquets and buttonholes. They look very elegant by themselves or can be matched with foliage and smaller flowers to create a really unique look.

You also have a lot of choice; roses come in a huge variety of colours, from pure white to the deepest red. Pale pinks look beautiful for a more rustic style wedding whilst brighter pinks can bring more of a spring feel to your wedding. With many different sizes and varieties of roses available, your flowers can be tailored perfectly to your dress and wedding theme.

2. Daffodils

Daffodils often signify the start of spring and with numerous varieties and colours available, we can create the perfect arrangements for your wedding. Daffodils can be used alone or look fabulous mixed with tulips to bring a real spring feel to your big day.

Bright and cheerful and ranging in colour from white to yellow to orange, these flowers can be potted or placed in jugs for centrepieces. They look lovely mixed with other wild flowers for a vintage feel too.

3. Peonies

Big and beautiful peonies come into season in early spring and make ideal wedding flowers. They symbolise a happy and healthy life so are a great choice for bouquets and centrepieces. Peonies are available in yellow, cream, white and shades of red and pink.

Hydrangeas are a good choice if you ‘re going with the wedding tradition of ‘something blue’ as they are one of the few varieties of bloom coming in this colour.

They are also available in white and pale pink, suiting a vintage or rustic theme. The huge blooms can be used to create show stopping centrepieces and look equally as good in a bouquet.
